            Hello,

I have a problem. I have a programm that does direct I/O to my scanner
which is attached to the parallel port. Everything works OK, but since
it is doing inb/outb, it has to use ioperm(). So it must be run has root
or with the sticky bit set.

Altough there isn't untrused users on my linux box, I'm concerned by the
idea of trashing files by mistake. So I'm looking for a way to avoid this.

Is there any way to give io permission to a non-priviledged process ?
If not, would it be possible to add an iotctl to ppdev to do it ?

    Regards,
            Stef
