Sorry to bother everyone, with this problem, but I'am out of ideas, and
    really could use some help.
I'am running redhat 7.1 on a hp 800 laptop, with out the scsi option.
I've installed the version ok using a
backpack ( microsolutions ) ok. with out any problems. then using the
    insert module routine
I've loaded the correct modules but am unable to load module pcd. I've
    tried multiple corrections to
    it..
    [root@hp_800_1 /root]# . load_pcd
    Using /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/kernel/drivers/parport/parport.o
    Using /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/kernel/drivers/parport/parport_pc.o
    Using /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/kernel/drivers/block/paride/paride.o
    Using /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/kernel/drivers/cdrom/cdrom.o
    Using /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/kernel/drivers/block/paride/bpck.o
    Using /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/kernel/drivers/block/paride/pcd.o
    /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/kernel/drivers/block/paride/pcd.o: init_module:
    Operation not permitted
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters

    which then generates in dmesg

the script I'am using to load the modules is simple and I've just had no
    luck creating this interface
which is drivin' me nuts, since this is how I loaded linux to begin, any
    help would be greatly
    appreciated, thanks,
