I'm trying to figure out where I've gone wrong here. I have:

    - a Backpack CD-RW which has worked in the past
    - a variety of blank CDs
    - cdrecord 1.10 (which has worked with this hardware in the past)
    - an onboard parallel port set to EPP in the BIOS (this same port has
worked in the past for writing CDs to the CD-RW)
    - a variety of 2.4.x kernels

What I don't remember is exactly which 2.4.x kernel has before worked
    for me. :-/

    Here's what I get:

    [root@cyberelk .raw]# uname -r
    2.4.9-7
    [root@cyberelk .raw]# dmesg | tail -11

    I have read README.linux, README.linux-shm, and README.parallel, and I
can't see what I've missed. 'Illegal mode for this track'? Huh?

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Tim.
