and after all, have you tried to upgrade your BIOS? sometimes
happens that such stuff is not included in original BIOS but in BIOS
revisions is present (e.g. my old BIOS, in desktop, couldn't change AGP
speed, the new one can.) BTW how old is that notebook? I'm not Compaq-affine
