For old old windows and DOS you could. There was a packet driver
implementation of PLIP in the crynwr collection. I don't think anyone
ever bothered porting it to later Windows, they either dumped MS or
spent $6 on a network card (100base T card + cable is cheaper than a
laplink cable after all..)
