[PARPORT] "ep: interrupt timeout" message?

Hi all,

I've got a Shark 250 that I insmod with

        insmod ep ep_base=0x378 ep_mode=4

In light duty this seems to work, but when I try to untar a large file
from the Shark, I get the following message occurring often:

        ep: Interrupt timeout

On a hunch, I rebooted and added a "ep_irq=0" argument, and this seemed to
solve the problem... but am I setting myself up for further problems?
What's going on here?

Thanks,
Eric
