[PARPORT] ppa.1.40 slower than ppa.1.37

Hi,
I published this question in october before, but I didnīt receive any
answers.

ppa.1.37 works fine but the zip is driven with software-direction-control.
ppa.1.36 allows hardware-direction-protocol. I think this should be faster or
am I wrong?

Running the id_probe utility delivers the following messages:
Speedpoint:/ppa_1_37/common # ./id_probe
Probing port 03bc
Probing port 0278
Probing port 0378
    SPP port present
ECP with a 16 byte FIFO present
    PS/2 bidirectional port present
Checking for Intel bug (ECP MODE 0x00)
Checking for Intel bug (ECP MODE 0x20)
EPP 1.9 with software direction protocol

Speedpoint:/ppa_1_40/common # ./id_probe
Probing port 03bc
Probing port 0278
Probing port 0378
    SPP port present
ECP with a 16 byte FIFO present
    PS/2 bidirectional port present
Failed Intel bug check. (Phony EPP in ECP)

The Kernelmessages look like that: (time, date, hostname removed)

Iīm still looking for a possibility to override autoprobing but it seems
to me that this isnīt possible any more with a module.
My configuration in brief:
ASUS T2P4 Mainboard with Intel 430HX
P133-80MB-Kernel 2.0.32-Matrox Millenium 4MB-SB AWE32-
Symbios Logic 8751SP UW-SCSI-Controller-2.1 GB EIDE

Maybe you can solve this performance problem and tell me how to configure
the ppa-driver without autoprobing.

Thanks in advance, Peter Stauder
