Here's the status: I did some design work on the driver, and then
decided that I really ought to have an ATAPI CD-RW drive for testing.

I've spent a lot of time writing e-mails and making phone calls
begging for one of the manufacturers to donate a drive. Nobody
has bitten on this one :-( I'm afraid I don't have the cash to
go and buy one ...

If there's somebody out there with

        - an HP 7100e or one of the other equivalent drives
(Verbatim and Nomai both have PP/ATAPI CD-RW products)
        - linux programming and configuration experience
        - a machine with an EPP port running > 2.1.82
        - good e-mail
        - time to help

I'd be happy to finish off my part of the work and get some
testing going.

Alternatively if anybody has strings they can pull at HP, Nomai
or Mitsubishi Chemical (aka Verbatim) - or any other way to help
get one of these things into my lab, please speak up !

Try it and let us know :-)
