MLC-link-provider via parport (more infos: see URL at bottom of mail)
=====================================================================
Hi,
static void parse_data(...) called by parport_probe_one(...) in
parport_probe.c does a good job. So of course there is no need for the
MLC-link-provider to ask the device once again its ID and parse it
once again to see, whether there is a MLC device. A multi-purpose device,
which does its multiplexing via MLC, reports MLC among the languages and
protocols in "COMMAND SET".
May I add an integer "flags" to parport_device_info take one flag
to indicate, whether there was probed a MLC device? Perhaps parse_data(...)
should mark in that flag integer any common language and protocol
found in COMMAND SET (since it already parses for PJL and PCL)?
Which of the above mentionned things do I may change?
Where do I send the patches?
Is the parport code found in the kernel 2.1.97 code the most recent one
(for I don't change an out of date one)?
Thanks for answers from the parport VIPs,
Roger.
