Hi,

I've been trying to get the 7100e drive recognised as a writer, but
without much luck. I'm using kernel 2.1.105 (I couldn't get 106 to compile
:(), and have downloaded the pg-beta.tar from the web page.

However the pg.c module wouldn't compile - it complained of a missing
symbol PI_PG (on line 537). I set this to 4 or 1 in paride.h. With either
value of this, trying to insmod pg I get

../pg.o: init_module: Device or resource busy

and dmesg gives

paride: version 1.02 installed
paride: epat registered as protocol 0
pg: pg version 1.0, major 97
pg0: epat 1.01, Shuttle EPAT chip c6 at 0x378, mode 2 (8-bit), delay 1
pg: No ATAPI device detected
pg: pg version 1.0, major 97
pg0: epat: port 0x3bc, mode 0, ccr ff, test=(255,255,510)
pg0: epat: port 0x3bc, mode 1, ccr ff, test=(255,255,510)
pg0: epat: port 0x3bc, mode 2, ccr ff, test=(255,255,510)
pg0: epat: port 0x378, mode 0, ccr 0, test=(255,0,0)
pg0: epat: port 0x378, mode 1, ccr 0, test=(255,0,0)
pg0: epat: port 0x378, mode 2, ccr 0, test=(255,0,0)
pg0: epat: port 0x378, mode 3, ccr ff, test=(255,255,510)
pg0: epat: port 0x378, mode 4, ccr ff, test=(255,255,510)
pg0: epat: port 0x378, mode 5, ccr ff, test=(255,255,510)
pg0: epat 1.01, Shuttle EPAT chip c6 at 0x378, mode 2 (8-bit), delay 1
pg0: Reset (101) signature = ff ff ff ff ff (incorrect)
pg0: Reset (101) signature = 80 80 80 80 80 (incorrect)
pg: No ATAPI device detected

Even forcing it to ignore the signature doesn't make any difference.

Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Jeremy
