If you force the port delay to zero you will see some improvement, though
nothing like what you will get when you get your port into EPP mode.

It's chipset dependent - i.e. we'd need to start by investigating the
kind of parallel port chip you have.

I've got two DOS programs that might be able to identify your port.
I'll contact you later tonight with details of where to get them.
