Super Scrabble

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Super ScrabbleI expected Super Scrabble to take longer to play than normal Scrabble I suppose. It took three hours, but it was great fun. You get so used to the triple word scores being in the middle of the edges with normal Scrabble that it’s a bit of a surprise when they aren’t on the edge in Super Scrabble. The Super Scrabble board is like a normal board but with three square’s worth of ‘padding’ around the edges, where all the quadruple bonus squares are.

It’s a great game, you just need to have the time to play it!

Music and Lyrics

Saw this at the cinema at the weekend. Yes, it was quite good, and about what I expected really. Hugh Grant is usually quite entertaining, and I think that’s why Sue wanted us to see it. 🙂

Best bit: I think the 80s-style pop video takes some beating.

Worst bit: As Jonathan Ross put it, “Cheer up Hugh, it’s only a rom-com.”

Judging by some of the bugs and features being marked as “fixed in 1.3-current”, CUPS 1.3 is shaping up very nicely!

Broken power supply unit

Monday, February 12th, 2007

Having spent the morning trying to find a replacement PSU for my computer, I’m now left with the old broken one giving off a ‘slightly burnt’ smell in the corner of the room. So, how do you get rid of a broken power supply unit these days? I phoned up the local council to find out.

The nearest centre for disposing of that sort of waste, I was told, is our local “Community Recycling Centre”. In case you didn’t know, this is council-speak for “the tip”. I explained that I don’t have a car, and that it would be a special taxi journey costing over £10, and they said that in that case I’d better just put it in with the household rubbish. 🙁

Found: The Cube!

Can it really have been two years since it started?
