CUPS 1.3b1, CUPSDDK 1.2.0

I’ve updated CUPS in Fedora devel to the 1.3b1 beta package. The cups-1.3-0.b1.2.fc8 build has support for Kerberos and DNS-SD (Bonjour/Zeroconf). The most recent build of selinux-policy is needed to get zeroconf working.


Watching the electricity meter

When the electicity bill comes, I usually phone up to give a meter reading. They use an estimated reading, but I like to keep it accurate in order to avoid any surprise charges at the end of the year. Last July I decided to jot down those readings myself in a spreadsheet, and take my own reading every few weeks just to keep track of how much electricity I use.


Smolt: where are the printers?

Just read about Smolt statistics, and it looks like it has the potential to be useful for making sure commonly used devices work well with Fedora. I just wish the printer devices page had useful information in.


CUPS bought by Apple

The CUPS web site has announced that Apple has purchased CUPS and hired its main developer Michael Sweet.

GPL Ghostscript 8.60 snapshot in Fedora devel

I’ve built a snapshot of the new GPL Ghostscript in Fedora devel, due to popular demand. It’s a snapshot from the SVN repository.  Hopefully it will fix a lot of the problems that the ESP branch was stuck with.
