In a post-installation environment I have been trying to install a ZIP100
parallel drive.
Being post install I did not have scsi support activated and have tried to
do this using the kernel configurator which I configured as:-
Type scsi_host Module ppa Arguments ppa_nybble=1 ppa_speed_low=6
ppa_speed_high=1 ppa_base=0x378
On reboot I still get in dmesg:- scsi : 0 hosts
scsi : detected total
The following steps have been undertaken:-
1. Via BIOS changed the port from EPP+ECP to Normal.
2. Manually entered into /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit /sbin/modprobe ppa
3. In /etc/fstab manually entering: /dev/zip /mnt/zip vfat
user,noauto,exec 0 1
4. In /etc/mtools.conf entering: drive z: file="/dev/sda4" exclusive
When booting I note a comment of:-
/lib/modules/2.2.12-20/scsi/ppa.0: init_module: Device or resource busy.
parport: Device or resource busy.
I have not configured any printer for this port as I am solely reliant on
Samba to a Windows only printer located on a W9x PC.
I have had the ZIP drive for about 3 years (works perfectly on W98) so it
would not have the newer imm driver.
Any help to show me whats staring me in the face would be much appreciated.
TIA
Roger Harrington
