    I have had luck "converting" the patch-2.2.15pre14-ppscsi1 to work on other kernels. You can do something like sed s/2.2.15pre14/2.2.17/ patch-2.2.15pre14-ppscsi1.

    To make it a little easier I wrote a perl script to convert the patch, which I included as an attachment. The script finds directories in /usr/src with "linux" in the name, asks you to choose one, converts the patch and then patches your tree.

    The script also makes a symlink called linux to point at your tree (if one doesn't exist) and warns about having your tree in "linux". (If I don't do this, patch seems to get confused, and starts asking questions.)

    I developed the script with perl5.6.0, but I think any perl5 should work.

    I have used the script without problem on 2.2.15 and 2.2.17.
