    Hi!
I have been using the paride suite for a long time now
with a Syquest SparQ device and things have been runnig smooth
    always.

I have now upgraded my PC and I am having problems with
the SparQ, here is the report:

(the problems reported do not depend on enabling or
disabling EPP support in the bios)

    1. Linux kernel 2.2.13 everything runs well (not a problem)
    2. Linux kernel 2.4.2 (stable kernel at present time, I believe).
I can load paride, epat and pd. Mounting ext2fs is OK.
                    e2fsck runs OK
writing/reading small (1Mbyte say) files is OK
            BUT ...
writing/reading larger (10Mbyte say) files HANGS THE
                            MACHINE

            Also:
when parport is compiled with NO IEEE-1284 support, pd produces
a complaint when trying to remove the module (rmmod pd)
in addition, the Disk change reported is not real.
when parport is compiled WITH IEEE-1284 support, pd produces
a kernel panic when trying to remove the module!

well, perhaps one of you knows what is going on, after several
silly attemps, like increasing the delay, I fall into having a 2.2.13
kernel available through LILO to use when the SparQ is needed (luckly
    not too often).
