The HP 5100C is apparently using a Shuttle EPST controller, so that is
probably worth a bet. I believe that most of the parallel port versions
of the Epson scanners actually work under Sane (such as 5500, 6500 etc.)
and these are your best bet if you want a working parallel port scanner
today/tomorrow.
