This problem was fixed in version 1.03 of the pt driver. You can upgrade to
the pt.c from 2.0.36 or change the definition of PT_TMO to 3000. The
problem didn't happen wiht my original drive, but I think more recent
firmware is slower at ends of tracks.

Right idea, wrong parameter.

Do force the delay to 0 if you can - it will speed things up.
