  • CUPS 1.3b1, CUPSDDK 1.2.0

    I’ve updated CUPS in Fedora devel to the 1.3b1 beta package. The cups-1.3-0.b1.2.fc8 build has support for Kerberos and DNS-SD (Bonjour/Zeroconf). The most recent build of selinux-policy is needed to get zeroconf working.

  • Smolt: where are the printers?

    Just read about Smolt statistics, and it looks like it has the potential to be useful for making sure commonly used devices work well with Fedora. I just wish the printer devices page had useful information in.

  • CUPS bought by Apple

    The CUPS web site has announced that Apple has purchased CUPS and hired its main developer Michael Sweet.

  • GPL Ghostscript 8.60 snapshot in Fedora devel

    I’ve built a snapshot of the new GPL Ghostscript in Fedora devel, due to popular demand. It’s a snapshot from the ghostscript.com SVN repository.  Hopefully it will fix a lot of the problems that the ESP branch was stuck with.

  • HPLIP 2.7.6 packaged

    Last week I packaged a new major version of HPLIP for Fedora. One of the biggest changes is that it no longer requires daemons running in the background (i.e. the “hplip” service, being hpiod and hpssd) for its functionality. At long last!
